Jensens

I love it when ex Neely ward members make an effort to come see us.  The Jensens came to sacrament just to see us.  I miss having Sara as my neighboor, I learned a lot from her when we lived on the same street.  That's where I would go to grind my wheat, she is very resourseful.  Miss having them close,  I was soo happy to see them I wanted to cry.  Even if it was a short visit I was greatful to see them.

I Jensens erano i nostri vicini di casa in Gilbert, Arizona.  Anche loro membri della stessa chiesa, infatti dato che erano nei paraggi per un riunione di famiglia sono venuti alla sacramentale dove andiamo noi.  Sara ed Eric era noi vicini fantastici, lei mi faceva usare la sua smerigliatrice di grano quando avevo bisogno.  Ora ho la mia,  peccato che ora anche loro si sono trasferiti in uno stato diverso e noi non li vediamo quando andiamo in Arizona.  Ero cosi' contenta di vederli che mi sono emozionata. Che bello e' stato vederli anche per poco.

Funeral

Drove to Utah for a funeral today of a boy gone to soon.  Only 12 years old, was taken by a rare form of cancer.  I have been following the blog about his story, he is Gaia's nephew.  I had been talking to my kids about him and really wanted to go to the funeral. Gaia was in Utah at the time so I decided to go and attend with my kids.  I don't like driving long distance but I did it.  It was the 1st time my children attended a funeral and a viewing before the funeral.  The Peck family is incredible.  The parents of the boy are solid, I admire their strength.  After moving to the states I thought it was so weird that people gather to eat as family and friends after a funeral because I thought they should be mourning....like they do in my culture.  But as I have lived here for 20 years and have been to a few funerals I realized what a beautiful tradition it is to be together a little longer instead of going to your house.  It's a moment to enjoy each other's company, especially the ones who have traveled far.  So, yes I attended the lunch in and sat by my ex-brother-in-law.  I care for him even after what he has done, I had not seen him in over 7 years, my kids have missed him also.

I thought a lot on the way home about the day, the Peck family and their loss.  I realized how our time on earth may be shorter than we think, and I need to take advantage of the moments we have together.  If you know me I don't ever take the kids out to eat especially by myself, but I though this was needed, Ismar is gone and I still need to spend time with my kids.  They were excited to go eat some good Mexican food, I was able to relax during dinner and after since there was no clean up.

We are so thankful for our health, sometimes we forget how blessed we are.

Oggi siamo stati ad un funerale nello Utah di un bambino andato via troppo presto.  Aveva solo 12 anni ed ha combattuto fino alla fine una forma di cancro molto rara. Era uno dei nipoti di Gaia, grazie a lei ho seguito il blog della sua storia gia' da un paio di mesi, ed Gaia essendo in Utah ho deciso di andare con i bambini al funerale.  Ismar e' in Chile per lavoro.  Questo e' stato il primo funerale dei miei figli dove hanno mostrato anche la salma prima di chiudere la bara.  Qui e' usanza che dopo la funzione la famiglia si riunisce e mangiano insieme, di solito un pasto fatto da altre persone per far si che la famiglia non si preoccupi di far da mangiare per tutti.  Appena mi sono trasferita negli stati uniti ho pensato che fosse come una festa e sono rimasta scioccata che facessero una cosa del genere.  Pero' poi quando sono stata ad uno di questi funerali ed ho visto come funziona, mi sono resa che e' una cosa bella poter stare insieme ai propri familiare dopo esser tornati dal cimitero, soprattutto per i familiari che sono venuti da lontano.  In quel salone di tavolate che sfamavano la famiglia Peck, c'era un senso di amore, speranza, e voglia di andare avanti nonostante la mancanza del bambino.  Una famiglia molto forte e con molta fede.  Ho decisamente imparato da loro oggi dal loro esempio.  Al lunch-in (al pranzo) mi sono seduta accanto al mio ex cognato,  a cui voglio ancora bene, nonostante l'inferno che ha fatto passare a mia sorella.  Non e' la stessa persona, era da 7 anni che non lo vedevo, anche i miei primi 3 figli sentono la sua mancanza.
Durante le 3 ore di viaggio per tornare in Idaho ho riflettuto molto alla famiglia Peck ed alla vita in generale.  Mi rendo conto che il nostro tempo su questo mondo puo' essere piu' corto di quello che pensiamo ed alle cose che contano davvero nella vita.  Per quelli che mi conoscono sanno che io raramente porto i bambini a mangiare fuori, soprattutto se sono da sola.  Pero' ho deciso di farlo perche' ogni tanto bisogna rallentare e stare con le persone a noi care.  Abbiamo cenato ad un ristorante messicano e siamo stati bene, molto rilassante esser serviti e non dover pulire dopo. Ringraziamo il Signore per la salute di tutti noi, a volte non ci rendiamo conto cosa abbiamo davvero.   

Surprise date

Lately we have been so busy with home remodel that we have not gone on a date in a few months.  He is getting ready to leave to Chile in a couple of days, so I thought since the kids are home why not do a day time date? I decided to not even ask, I had Italia drop off a bag of change of clothes to the office with a note.  The istructions were to wear what was in the bag, be ready to be picked up for a surprise.  Long story short, we went to a near by lake and rented a paddle board.  The water was great, and the time spent together was priceless.  I needed to spent time before his trip.    

We liked it so much that we came back with the kids the day after.

Ultimamente a casa siamo presi molto nel rinnovovare casa e quindi io ed Ismar e' da un paio di mesi che non usciamo da soli.  Dato che lui fra un paio di giorni parte per andare in Chile, ed avendo i bambini a casa ho deciso di sorprendere Ismar ed uscire durante il pomeriggio.  Ho fatto portare ad Italia una busta con i vestiti di ricambio ed un foglio con le istruzioni a lavoro di Ismar.  Le istruzioni erano di esser pronto ad aspettarmi ad una certa ora.  Siamo andati ad un lago qui vicino ed abbiamo affittato tavola  tipo da surf ma con questa ci si sta' in piedi sopra.  Noi  in 2 su una tavola, stile profughi....l'acqua non era fredda e ci siamo divertiti.  Avevamo bisogno di un po' di tempo da soli per staccare dai lavori in casa e dai bambini.  Ci e' piaciuto cosi' tanto che siamo ritornati il giorno dopo con i bambini.

1st Date

....and this starts happening when they turn 16...luckly we like, and were very glad about Calvin asking her on her 1st date.  We have known him and his family since we moved here to Rexburg he is a great kid.  Plus he sat the bar really high for us:  came in to speak to Ismar told us were and with who they were going to be, what time he would have her home, and called Ismar when he knew they would be late.  Impressive.

....nella nostra "cultura mormone" a 16 anni sia ragazzi che ragazze cominciano ad uscire insieme, lo chiamano dating qui negli stati uniti.  Si riferisce ad un modo di corteggiare.  Italia avendo compiuto 16 anni e' andata nel suo primo date con un suo amico che conosciamo da quando ci siamo trasferiti a Rexburg.  Calvin e' un bravissimo ragazzo, che fra l'altro ci ha dato una buonissima impressione perche': e' venuto alla porta a prendere Italia, e' entrato per parlare con Ismar e dirgli dove e con chi andavano, a che ora l'avrebbe riportata a casa, e quando sapeva che avrebbero ritardato gli ha telefonato per informarlo di questo.  Scusatemi ma e' stato il massimo.

Gaia

Gaia came to visit us for a few days with her girls,  they didn't stay long enough but we made the best of the time we had together.

Gaia e le bambine sono venute a trovarci per un paio di giorni, abbiamo sfruttato il tempo poco che abbiamo avuto insieme.

Sonic

This is what happens when they turn 16...they get a job....which is good.  I had a hard time sending her to work for 10 hours so she could train, for 4 days straight!!!  That was hard not having her home all day,  but it's part of the process.

Dance Festival

Rexburg also has it's own dance festival.  Every year they host dance team from all over the world and do a week of events for the community, some are free, some are not.  This year we had dancers from:  Russia, Puerto Rico, Canada, India, and a local US team.

Ogni anno a luglio Rexburg ha un festival della danza, ospitano per una settimana diverse squadre internazionali di ballo, e per una settimana fanno degli shows per la comunita', alcuni gratis, altri no.  Quest'anno abbiamo avuto squadre dalla Russia, Canada, India, Puerto Rico ed una squadra locale statunitense.

Pack Saddle Lake

Pack Saddle lake is one of the hidden beautie around here.  I say hidden because if you don't know where you are going you are not going to find it.  It it is the middle of nowhere and when you park your car you need to hike down for about 10 minutes before you get there.  It is stunning.  The water is cold but its' worth getting in with the rope swing.  The kids loved it even if it was an advanture getting there,  we were definatly not prepared to hike down.  Ismar ended up carrying Sofia on his back on the way down and on the way up.

 Pack Saddle Lake e' un posto letteralmente nascosto nel bosco.  Abbiamo dovuto guidare per un bel po nella natura, parcheggiato la macchina in cima della montagna e poi abbiamo fatto un escursione di 10 minuti circa per arrivare al lago.  Ne e' davvero valsa la pena appena abbiamo visto questo paradiso nascosto. L'acqua era gelida ma noi ci siamo buttati dentro con lanciandoci con la corda.
Noi siamo arrivati in cima della montagna molto impreparati infatti Ismar ha dovuto portare Sofia sulle spalle sia quando siamo andati giu' che quando siamo tornati in su'.  E' stata davvero un'avventura ma ai bambini e' piaciuto molto.

4th of July Parade - Parata del 4 luglio

 I love that Rexburg has it's own parade every year for the 4th of July.  It is packed and the floats are pretty cool.  We showed up an hour after it started but it was plenty of time spent there and the kids still got plenty of candy and coupons.  It was a nice day we took the kids swimming to a near by river for the day and then went to a friend's house for dessert.


Tutti gli anni per il 4 luglio Rexburg ha una parata in centro che dura un paio di ore.  Noi siamo arrivati un ora in ritardo ma quell'ora che siamo stati li' ci e' bastata.  E' usanza che durante le parate le persone nella parata buttano caramelle ai bambini, in un'ora ci siamo riempite le tasche.  Durante il pomeriggio abbiamo portato i bambini ad un fiume qui vicino e di sera dopo cena siamo andati a mangiare dei rinfreschi a casa di amici.

Emma 14

Emma is 14! She wanted some swim suits for her birthday and I decided to also buy her a TMNT shirt.  She requested sushi for dinner and the tres leches cake, we celebrated with her friend Taya.

Emma ha compiuto 14 anni.  Ha ricevuto dei costumi, sandali ed una maglietta delle tartarughe ninja.  Per cena abbiamo festeggiato con sushi fatto in casa ed e' stata con la sua amica Taya.
