New Years Eve - Capodanno

Celebrated new years eve with Andrea, Melissa, Kylee, Matt, Minky, Ross and Nathan.  Since we didn't have pupusas for Christmas eve we made them for new years eve and of course lentils for good luck.  We played our favorite new game cover your assets....as you can all see Stefano was trying to look at Matt cards!  Consider this a sneak peak of our kitchen.

Abbiamo fatto capodanno con Andrea, Melissa, Kylee, Matt, Minky, Ross e Nathan.  Ismar ha fatto le pupusas dato che per la vigilia di natale non le ha potute fare dato che eravamo da amici.  Per buona fortuna le lenticchie le ho fatte io.  Abbiamo giocato a un gioco nuovo che si chiama Cover your assets, come potete vedere Stefano ha una strategia tutta sua...lo sbirciare le carte a Matt.  Come potete vedere abbiamo rifatto la cucina.

Westenskows

We are so excited to go down to Utah and see the Westenskows!  We have not seen them since before we moved to Idaho.  They were our neighbors in Gilbert, we used to see them every week day at least 2 times a day at the bus stop.  They moved to Texas 2 years before we moved to Idaho.  Everyone is really excited to see them again.  Emma is excited to see Abby, Emma feels the same way about Delayne and Stefano his first crush Riley.  Sometimes I wish we could go back in time and have the kids little again and have the Westenskow, the Jensens, the Kobers and so forth be our neighbors again.  Those were the good times in old Gilbert.  Anyways they are visiting the Kobers in Spanish Fork so we are going and spending a couple of hours with them before they drive back to Texas.

Siamo felicissimi di andare nello Utah a trovare la famiglia Westenskows.  Loro erano i nostri vicini di casa a Gilbert e parte dei membri della chiesa.  E'da piu' di 4 anni che non li vediamo da quando ci siamo trasferiti in Idaho.  Loro si trasferirono nel Texas 2 anni prima della nostra partenza.  Italia ed Abby erano migliori amiche,  Emma con Delayne e Stefano era innamorato di Riley.  A volte vorrei tornare indietro nel tempo per poi rivivere accanto a loro ed avere i nostri figli che giocano ancora insieme.  Ovviamente e' ancora un legame stretto, avevamo dei vicini come loro, i Jensens ed i Kobers fantastici.  Per fortuna sono di passaggio e si sono fermati a casa dei Kobers a Spanish Fork quindi visitiamo due famiglie allo stesso tempo.

December 27th

December 27th is the day we drove into Rexburg as a family ready to start a new adventure.  We had dinner at Fronter Pies since we didn't know where to go.  It's an old restaurant,very country.  We thought we would make it a tradition to go there the same day every year and celebrate the day we came here.  Being here has been great for our family, Ismar finally loves his job and I love this place.  This is also a treat because we don't take our kids out to eat very much.

Il 27 dicembre siamo arrivati a Rexburg come una famiglia per cominciare la nostra avventura qui in Idaho.  Il primo posto che abbiamo trovato e' stato il ristorante Frontier Pies, quindi abbiamo cenato li.  Quest'anno abbiamo deciso di ricordarci di questa data importante ed fermarci qui una volta all'anno il 27 dicembre per festeggiare il nostro arrivo in Idaho.  Essere in questa cittadina e' stata una bella esperienza per tutti noi,  Ismar finalmente e' soddisfatto con il suo lavoro ed io ho trovato un posto dove mi sento a casa.  Aver portato i bambini fuori  a mangiare e' stato un piacere anche perche' di solito lo facciamo raramente, perche' preferisco nutrirli a cosa con le cose che cucino io.

 I prepared early this year by making traditional Italian desserts for Christmas. I figured, since no one is coming to visit we need to come up with our own traditions.  Christmas was on a Sunday so we went to church and then came back to open presents.  We had Andrea, Melissa and Kylee come and eat with us....too bad I didn't take pictures but of course it was an Italian meal.  I think the kids loved what they got.  I love the holidays and making our own traditions.


Dato che siamo soli per Natale, mi sono preparata in anticipo ed ho fatto i dolci del sud che ricordo mangiare a casa della nonna a Salerno e dagli zii.  Ho fatto, gli strufoli, i mostaccioli, ed il torrone.  Purtroppo il torrone era troppo morbido, dovro' cambiare ricetta il prossimo anno.  Quest'anno Natale e' di domenica quindi siamo stati in chiesa e poi tornati a casa ad aprire i regali.    A cena sono venuti Andrea, Melissa e Kylee.  Peccato non ho fatto foto, ma ci siamo divertiti a giocare a carte.  Il pasto di Natale e' stato a base di cucina italiana.  Dato che e' da 4 anni che siamo qui e le feste le passiamo soli, ultimamente mi piace molto cercare di cominciare le nostre tradizioni.

 There is little to explain about these pictures...it's cold and covered in snow.  Best way to survive it is to stay indoors. I love this place even like this.
