 The Boys room had wall paper on half the wall, with a trip that went around the room.  Luckly the wall paper came off really easy. The plan: paint, shades, flooring, shelves, reorganizing.

La stanza dei bambini aveva carta da parati nella parte di sopra, fortunatamente la carta e' venuta via facilmente. Ho dovuto rattoppare anche tanti buchi al muro come potete vedere dalle foto giu'.
Pianifichiamo di: rimbiancare muri e porte, mettere del laminato, costruire delle mensole, e riorganizzare.

Questa panchina e' stata costruita dal mio Geppetto/Ismar per mettere dentro i libri dei bambini.

BASEMENT BATHROOM - BAGNO GIU'

 This is the basement bathroom.....of course more wall paper, but this one came out really easy. The plan for this room is to remove wall paper, patch up walls, paint cabinets, change hardware, light fixtures, and re-tile once everything is done.

Come potete vedere anche questo bagno ha la carta da parati....ma anche questa e' venuta via facilmente e velocemente.  L'idea e' di rimbiancare muri e mobili, e cambiare tutto quello che e' vecchio che ha bisogno di esser cambiato.

 Previous paint color on the wall was pink to match that top curtain, which was paired with the front door wall paper. 

I muri erano di un color rosino per complimentare la tendina di sopra. Davanti la porta invece hanno messo ancora carta da parati per tormentarmi.

 This second layer of wall paper was the Devil!  It has taken me weeks to get rid of this beast.  If hell has wallpaper this would be the kind.  It doesn't soak because it's like alluminium foil, plus it was sooo bright that I started to see stars if I stared at it too long.   My sander did the job by taking the metal layer off and exposing the paper underneath, so instead of months to get rid of this it only took me weeks.

Dopo aver tolto il primo strato ho trovato quest'inferno sotto. Una carta da parati fatta di un materiale come carta argentata, il che fa si che neanche l'acqua la smuove.  Io invece ho preso la levigatrice le l'ho passata sopra....ha fatto un sacco di polvere...ma invece di volerci mesi a spellare questa carta ci sono volute settimane.

Ponte Vecchio - Firenze

 Finally all free of the 2 layer of wall paper.  We will be adding a sliding barn door for the entrance to the kitchen on the left as soon as Geppetto can build one.  Eventually I will also add something to the wall on the right.

Dopo aver strappato i due strati ti carta da parati dell'inferno.  Aggiungeremo una porta scorrevole appena Geppetto me la puo' costruire, e poi mettero' qualcosa anche al muro sulla destra.

 Rearranged furniture, put some pictures up and added curtains.  Next change will be the lighting.

Spostato i divani, messo le tende, e qualche quadro al muro.  Le lampade verranno cambiate prossimamente.

 Of course we have more wall paper, but not just any, this one is embossed and 2 different kinds!  And the room is not small.....

Nel salotto giu' abbiamo come vedete ancora carta da parati!  Mi vorrei strappare i capelli....

 ....since the room is not small I have enlisted the girls to help with the ripping.  It is a sticky mess, and no they were not happy about it but I was in the middle of other projects like, making curtains for the boys, painting their trim, ect, so I really appreciated the help.

....per fortuna le bambine mi hanno aiutato a strappare la carta.  Non eramo molto entusiaste, ma io essendo occupata nel fare tende, dipingere porte e cose varie, apprezzo il loro aiuto.

This wall paper stuff is not easy, after it's been removed they have a thick layer of glue that needs to be removed....which I have had to do on my own since the girls are in school.  We have big plans for this room.
Paint, wainscoating, laminate flooring, repainting furniture, and rearranging it.

Sotto la carta c'e' uno strato spesso di colla che va levato...cosa che ho fatto da sola perche' le bambine sono a scuola.  Maledetta carta!  Dobbiamo rimbiancare, levare la moquet, rimbiancare i mobili, e riorganizzare i mobili, forse anche buttare via dei giocattoli.

 All this room needed was some fresh paint, new flooring, rearranging, organization, throwing a lot of stuff away and new curtains, made by me of course.

Questa stanza ha solo avuto bisogno di un bel colore sui muri, pavimenti nuovi, spostare i mobili al posto giusto, mettere su le mensole, buttare via un po' di roba e poi delle tendine nuove fatte da me.

The upstairs was painted, needed some rods, hooks in the right place, window treatment, new rugs and the cabinets needed a face lift.  The cabinets I painted last summer, Ismar made a frame for the big mirror, made a shelf and he is planning on retiling the floor.  This is how far we have gotten.  Big difference.

Il bagno al piano al primo piano e' stato rimbiancato, sia i muri che i mobili, abbiamo comprato dei ganci, una tendina nuova, incorniciato lo specchio grazie ad Ismar ed messo una mensola. Evantualmente rifaremo anche i pavimenti, per ora questo e' quello che abbiamo fatto.

This room was kind of like the office carpet and a light color.  The plan: paint walls, doors and trim, flooring and lighting. I only had a before picture of an empty room so I decided not to post it.

Questa stanza aveva la moquet e un colore chiaro al muro. E' stato rimbiancato i muri, porte e cornici, messo pavimenti e cambiato il lampadario.  Che differenza.  Una foto di prima non l'ho messa perche' non c'era niente da vedere.

This room also needed some painting and flooring, especially after Sofia had used the Sharpie both on the walls and on the carpet.  The plan: paint, floor, window treatment, change color to her nightstand, and create a reading nook.

L'ennesima stanza che ha bisogno di pavimenti, e rimbiancare. Progettiamo di: rimbiancare, mettere del laminato, (anche perche' Sofia ha scritto con il pennarello indelebile sia sul muro che sulla moquet) costruire delle cornice per le finestre, rimbiancare il comodino, e creare un angolo per leggere.

By the time we redid this room we were sick of the nasty carpet.  This has been the last bedroom to get done, so we were ready. The plan: paint with an accent wall, floors, change bedding, curtains, get lamps, and get rid of clothes.

Questa stanza e' stata l'ultima ad esser "rifatta".  Progettiamo di:  rimbiancare con un muro di un colore diverso, mettere del laminato, cambiare le tende, il copri letto, comprare delle lampade da comodino e buttare via vestiti che non usiamo.  Dato, tanto che ci siamo riorganiziamo anche gli armadi per fare un po' piu' posto.

BAGNO DI SERVIZIO - PRIMA

This cute little bathroom is next to the mud room.  It's little and perfect for guests but really boring.  The plan is to paint it, changing lighting, mirror and do something with the big wall behind the toilet.  That area is perfect for a plank wall.... and since we  have a lot of old fence wood that is what we did.

Questo bagno di servizio e' accanto al garage, e vicino la cucina.  E' perfetto per gli ospiti.  In questo bagno vogliamo rimbiancare, cambiare lo specchio, le luci e fare una parete con il legno della vecchia staccionata, dato che abbiamo tanto legno.  

This is part of the fence wood, that Ismar plained for maybe an hour, we used 3 times the amount that is in the picture.

Questo legno della staccionata e' un terzo di quello che abbiamo lavorato, Ismar lo ha dovuto spianare per minimo un ora.

We are in love with this wall and so is everyone else that sees it for the first time.  It really dressed up this room.

Siamo innamorati ti questa parete, e' venuta molto bene, ha davvero trasformato questo bagno di servizio.

 First step was to paint the inside of the cub-bard white.

La prima cosa che ho fatto e' stato rimbiancare il dentro dei mobili di bianco.

 Ismar removing layer 2 and 3 of wall paper.  This is the last area or the house that has any left.

The plan for the kitchen is to removed the multiple layers of wall paper,  add crown molding to make the cubbards look bigger, paint the cabinets 2 different colors, change the hardware, do a back splash, paint the dinning room, create a new cornice and put up curtains.

Per la cucina vogliamo aggiungere una cornice attorno il muretto di sopra dei mobili di cucina, rimbiancare la cucina di 2 colori diversi, cambiare le maniglie, rinuovere la carta da parati ed aggiungere un'alzatina, creare una cornice per la porta scorrevole ed aggiungere le tende.

After the molding was added we proceeded to primer and paint the top part of the cabinets.

Dopo aver aggiunto la cornice al soffitto abbiamo verniciato i mobili della parte superiore.

After we assembled the doors and new hardware on top we moved to the bottom part of the cabinets.

Dopo aver riattaccato le porte con le maniglie nuove della parte superiore siamo passati alla parte inferiore dei mobili.

Trunk - Baule

So I have been waiting a trunk to use as a coffee table and as a place to store blankets.  I searched Pinterest and found this beauty. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/297589487859340097/

We had some left over wood from the fence and some laying around the garage so Geppetto put it to use, I told him how big I wanted it and he delivered.  I then stained, painted and waxed, looked to find the hardware and voila!  Somethings were tweaked in the construction but we love the end result.  I am lucky that Geppetto can just look at a picture without having measurements.  

Era da tanto che volevo un baule per la taverna, da usare come tavolino davanti al divano e per mettere dentro le coperte.  Ho trovato questo design su Pinterst.....

Dato che abbiamo ancora tanto legno dalla staccionata e in generale in garage Ismar lo ha costruito.  Fortunatamente lui non ha bisogno di piani con misure puo' tranquillamente costruire senza istruzioni scritte.  Io come al solito ho contribuito nel tingerlo, dipingerlo, cerarlo e trovare gli angoli e le maniglie sul web.

Ci sono stati dei cambiamenti al design ma siamo molto contenti di come sia venuto.

Church Announces BYU–Pathway Worldwide, a Global Higher-Education Organi...

This is a monumental moment for Pathway to become its own organization.  We are so happy and it's been exciting to see the program grow since Ismar was hired as a Pathway International manager.  The only down side is that we will have to leave Rexburg and move to the Salt Lake City area.  This has come at a hard time for me because I had a hard week with the passing of Paola and now the news that we will have to relocate.  I love this place so much it has been everything I wanted for me, for my kids and for my husband.  Both me and Ismar both felt change was coming but we did not know it was within his own job.  I had been having dreams of moving to a different house which usually means that we will move,  I didn't think much of my dreams because I never wanted to move, not even to another house in Rexburg.  I feel like in a way we were prepared but moving to Utah was a big surprise.  A lot of emotions....the kids were crushed when we told them, they love it here and have found good friends, they do understand that this is the next step, because sometimes you can still feel it's the right thing to do even-though you would not have picked it for yourself.  It's going to be a crazy couple of months...we now have to finish remodeling so we can put up our house for sale.  I hate the unknown, where are we going to be, there is so many places to live there.  We  won't be able to be as close to each other has we have been for the past 4 years.  The team leaves within a square mile from each other.  We have had a good thing here in Rexburg that we won't have again.

Il 7 febbraio, la settimana dopo il funerale di Paola c'e' stato un annuncio.  Un momento storico nel lavoro di Ismar.  BYUI Pathway diventera' una organizzazione propria, una universita' online che offrira' lauree da BYU Provo, BYU Idaho, BYU Hawaii, e LDS business college.  In questi 4 anni e' stato bello per Ismar lavorare come manager di Pathway internazionale e vedere il programma crescere.  L'unica cosa incoveniente e' che il programma dovra' funzionare da Salt Lake City nello Utah e che tutti dovranno trasferirsi li.  Per me questa notizia e' arrivata al momento sbagliato perche' ad una settimana dalla morte di Paola, la notizia di andare via mi ha sconvolta.  Rexburg e' stato un posto bellissimo per me, i bambini ed Ismar.  Meglio di quello che pensavamo, abbiamo conosciuto tanta bella gente.  Nonostante lo shock, io ed Ismar ci sentivamo che ci sarebbero stati dei cambiamenti, non pensavamo che fossero stati in riguardo al suo lavoro.  Io nelle ultime settimane sognavo di cambiare casa, questi sogni in passato si sono rivelati veri nel senso che ci siamo sempre trasferiti, anche prima che io lo sapessi.  Le mie intenzioni erano di rimanere nella stessa casa anche a Rexburg perche' non volevo fare piu' traslochi.  In un certo modo siamo stati "avvisati", anche se come ho detto prima non ci aspettavamo un cambiamento del genere.  I bambini erano tristi quando gli e lo abbiamo detto, hanno pianto, pero' capiscono che va fatto.  I prossimi mesi saranno pieni....dobbiamo finire di rinnovare casa e poi metterla in vendita.  Ci sono tante cose se ancora non sappiamo. L'incertezza non mi piace, come dove andremmo a vivere ci sono tanti posti e tante possibilita'.  Ci rendiamo conto che non saremo a 2 kilometri di distanza da tutto e tutti, le cose cambieranno anche per le amicizie che verranno con noi.  Non troveremo un'altra Rexburg e quello che abbiamo avuto qui.  E' davvero un posto speciale.

Paola

I was sitting in Sunday school when Gaia called my phone.  I denied the phone call then she sent me a message saying to please call it's urgent.  I was afraid...I thought it's either about my parents or Paola.  I stepped outside and called her back.  Paola, my sister in law had passed away a few hours ago.  I immediately try to call my brother Daniele, but no answer, so I called my cousin Elisa and then my aunt Gianna.  I decided to hide in the mother's lounge so I could let my emotions run free.  I then got a call from my brother Enos.  I felt so much pain for the loss of Paola,for how Daniele and Linda must be feeling.  I had to recompose my self to get Ismar out of Sunday school and tell him to get the kids out of their classes.  We needed to go home right away.  I hate being disconnected with my family because of us living in 2 different continents, especially when things like this happen,  I felt so helpless.  Once we got home the messages and phone calls started coming, family discussing what can we do for Daniele, has anyone been able to speak to him?  What exactly happened?  Paola had been sick for the past 7 years but never did we think it would come down to this.  Ismar looked for tickets but I would not be able to make it for the funeral which was going to be on Tuesday.  By the end of the day by head was pounding from all the crying.    The next couple of days were heavy, we could all feel the sadness.  We did feel the love of family and friends from the many messages through Facebook, text, Whatsupp, people stopped by and phone calls.  We were touched by how many people care to extend their love for us.  Tuesday morning we tuned in through Google Hangouts we were able to see the funeral, hear Daniele speak.  She was in a beautiful white coffin.  We are thankful for technology who made us feel a little closer for a moment.
I have known Paola since I was a young girl before her and Daniele were and item.  She has been part of our family for many years.  She was a very smart woman, had 2 degrees, and spoke English perfectly.  She was a hard worker and a great mom, she loved animals and tried to rescue as many as possible.  She loved my brother, she was a good woman.  I am sad that my children didn't really get to meet her, but I will make sure they know her.  Relationships are important.  I am glad I made the sacrifice to go see them when they got married, something I will never regret.  We know she is no longer suffering and that we will see her again.  'Till we meet again Paola.


Ero seduta accanto ad Ismar alla scuola domenicale quando Gaia mi ha telefonato, io non ho risposto e le ho detto che non potevo.  Lei mi ha mandato un messaggio dicendo che era urgente.  Mi e' venuta un po' di paura perche' ho pensato sia successo o qualcosa ai miei o a Paola.  Appena uscita l'ho richiamata e mi ha comunicato che Paola, mia cognata, era morta da poche ore. Immediatamente ho cercato di telefonare a Daniele, ma non rispondeva, quindi ho chiamato mia cugina Elisa che non sapeva molto, allora ho telefonato a mia zia Gianna.  Sono andata a nascondermi nella stanza dove le mamme allattano i bambini per aver un po' di privacy.  Ho sentito tanto dolore a sapere che Paola era venuta a mancare, povero Daniele e Linda chissa' come si debbano sentire loro.  Mi sono dovuta ricomporre un po' ed andare a dire a Ismar di uscire dalla classe ed andare anche a prendere i bambini nelle loro classi.  Dovevamo tornare immediatamente a casa per poter parlare con i familiari.  E' brutta la distanza in situazioni cosi'. Ci sentiamo cosi' inutili in queste situazioni. Appena arrivati a casa Ismar si e' messo a vedere prezzi per biglietti, ma sfortunatamente sarei arrivata dopo il funerale che era Martedi'.  Ho pianto cosi' tanto che alla fine del giorno mi faceva male la testa.  Il pensiero del dolore che provi Daniele e Linda, e non aver potuto parlare con lui e' stato difficile.  I prossimi giorni sono stati duri.  Grazie alla tecnologia di oggi abbiamo assistito al funerale tramite Google Hangouts.  Paola era in un bella bara bianca.  Aver potuto sentire e vedere Daniele parlare e vedere le persone attorno a lui ci ha fatto sentire vicini.  Paola era da 7 anni che non stava bene, ma non ci saremmo mai immaginati questo.  I giorni passati sono stati duri, in quei giorni abbiamo ricevuto molti messaggi, tramite text, Facebook, Whatsupp, telefonate e visite, abbiamo sentito l'amore delle persone vicine e lontane.  E' proprio vero che l'amicizia si vede nel momento del bisogno.
Io conoscevo Paola da quando ero ragazzina, prima che lei e Daniele si mettessero insieme.  Lei e' stata parte della nostra famiglia per molti anni.  Era una ragazza molto intelligente, aveva preso 2 lauree, parlava inglese perfettamente, ha sempre lavorato duro e amato il suo lavoro, era un brava mamma, amava gli animali e ne ha salvati tanti.  Amava mio fratello, era tanto tanto buona.  Sono triste che i miei figli non avranno l'opportunita' di incontrarla ma io mi assicurero' che loro nonostante questo la conoscono.  Le famiglie e i nostri cari sono la cosa piu' importante al mondo.  Quando andai al loro matrimonio fu un sacrificio per me, ma lo farei di nuovo perche' e' stato un bel momento che ora porto come ricordo.  Io credo che dopo la morte non e' la fine e che Paola ci stia accanto.  Ci rivedremo Paola.

Cornices

One of our neighbors has come over and seen what we have done with our house.  She loved the cornice I made for my dinning room so much that she hired us to make 3 for her house, one in the kitchen, one in the dinning room and one in the living room.  The longest measured 14 feet!  Geppetto studied and delivered.  I did the staining, painting and sanding.  This was a fun project and they are stunning in Jessica's house.  She has one of a kind for sure in her living room.  It has dressed her rooms very well.

 Una nostra vicina e' venuta a vedere i tutto quello che abbiamo fatto a casa ed si e' innamorata della cornice che ho fatto in cucina.  Quindi ci ha assunti, io ed Geppetto per farne 3 per casa sua, 2 in cucina e una nel soggiorno.  La piu' lunga era di 14 piedi.  Come al solito Geppetto ha fatto un buon lavoro a costruirle.  Io le ho tinte, pitturate e levigate per dare l'effetto di vecchio.  E' stato bello fare queste cornici e sono bellissime con le tende in cucina e il salotto.

1st Dance - Primo ballo

Italia's first dance with her buddy Calvin.  I was so happy that Calvin was the one she was going with, he is a great kid.  Italia was really excited she scored big on her dress paying the big price of $11.  I love that she can wear it again. She got her makeup and hair done by an old friend from Arizona who is going to beauty school.  She looked beautiful.  We also made his boutonniere....thanks to YouTube.  They went to dinner at a friend's house and then to the dance.

Il primo ballo della scuola di Italia.  E' andata con il suo amico Calvin, un ragazzo d'oro.  Italia ha trovato il suo vestito per il  prezzo salato di $11.  Mi piace il suo vestito perche' se lo potra' rimettere di nuovo non solo per il ballo.  E' stata alla scuola di parrucchiere per farsi fare il trucco ed i capelli da una studente, che conosciamo da quando vivevamo in Arizona.    Davvero bella Italia.  Io e lei abbiamo anche fatto il boutonniere di Calvin grazie alle instruzioni trovate su YouTube.  Sono andati a cena a casa di un amico e poi al ballo.

2017 Thoughts - Pensieri per il 2017

This selfie of the year 2017 unfiltered.  We are always excited about the new year and what it will bring to us.  This coming year we plan on continuing the remodel on the house. We plan on going to Mexico and use our trailer more than we did last year,  we will continue to explore Idaho, maybe explore Yellowstone, visit the local lakes and rivers.  As far as family goes we plan on spending time together, continue to simplify our lives, and continue to get rid of unnecessary things.  We are going to join the Spanish ward, we will try it for a year.  I know we will make other friends.  We will strive to stay close to our loved ones, and surround ourselves with good influences.

Il primo selfie senza filtro dell'anno 2017.  L'inizio dell'anno e' sempre emozionante perche' non sappiamo cosa ci portera'.  Quest'anno continueremo a rinnovare casa,  non e' rimasto molto.  Andremo in vacanza in Messico, e cercheremo di andare in campeggio con la nostra roulotte.  Ci piacerebbe arrivare a Yellostone, diciamo sempre di andare perche' e' vicino e poi non siamo mai andati.  Vogliamo passare piu' tempo in famiglia, anche perche' i bambini stanno crescendo velocemente.  Continuero' a sbarazzarmi di cose che non uso o inutili.  A gennaio cominceremo ad andare al rione Spagnolo ed andremo li' per un anno.  Sicuramente faremo altre amicizie.  Cercheremo di stare vicino ai nostri cari e di circondarci di buoni esempi.
