ITALY

My dream has finally come true....to take at least one of my kids to Italy with me to introduce them to my family and to show them my beautiful country.  Italia, being the oldest will go first, then Emma, and so on.  I wish we could all go but it is not cheap for all of us to go.  We left 2 days after graduation on a Sunday morning.  The travel was a lot easier with Italia to talk to, I usually hate this part.

Il mio sogno di portare un figlio con me in Italia si e' finalmente realizzato....in questo viaggio viene Italia, essendo la piu' grande.  E' stato bello farle conoscere la mia famiglia e farle vedere il mio bellissimo paese.  Il prossimo viaggio portero' Emma.  Siamo partite 2 giorni dopo la laurea di domenica.  Di solito odio viaggiare da sola, ma avendo Italia accanto e' stato tutto molto piu' piacevole.

Roma

We landed in Rome after 1 p.m. and as soon as we situated ourselves in our Airbnb we met up with Angelica, an old friend from high-school who I had not seen in 23 year, and she spend the next day and a half with me and Italia. She hasn't changed.  We saw a lot thanks to her we didn't waist time and went from place to place.

Siamo atterrate a Roma ed appena ci siamo sistemate nell'Airbnb ci siamo incontrate con Angelica, una mia amica delle superiori, era da 23 anni che non la vedevo.  Abbiamo passato questi 2 giorni insieme e ci ha fatto vedere davvero tanto, molto di piu' di quello che pensavamo.

Prato

We arrived in Prato, my hometown and went to stay with Daniele. In the afternoon we spent it with Stefania doing some shopping.

Arrivate a Prato, a casa di Daniele e poi nel pomeriggio passato con Stefania a fare un po' di shopping.

 Firenze

We spent the day in Florence with Linda.  We had lunch in the beautiful Boboli gardens.  We walked so much that our feet hurt.

Abbiamo passato il giorno a Firenze con Linda, abbiamo fatto pranzo ai giardini dei Boboli e girato tanto.  Ci fanno male i piedi da quanto abbiamo camminato.

Prato

Again me, Italia spent the day going around my home town Prato to show Italia my old school, home, city center and so on.  We spent lunch at my father's cousin Roberto.  I love them.

We spent a day and a half in Avellino to visit more family.  Uncle Franco and my cousins.  I also got to see Michele, I had not seen him in 23 years!!!  It was strange how I found him, but kind of a long story so I will spare you the time.  We also got to know my cousin's girls a little bit better and his wife Enza.  She is really sweet and wished she lived close to me.

Abbiamo passato un giorno e mezzo ad Avellino con la famiglia di mio zio Franco.  Ho visto anche un amico che non vedevo da 23 anni., Michele, che stranamente ho trovato proprio ora.  Incredibile averlo trovato dopo cosi' tanto tempo, e bella esperienza.  Passando questi giorni qui con la mia famiglia ho avuto l'opportunita' di conoscere le figlie di mio cugino un po' meglio e sua moglie Enza che e' davvero una persona squisita.  Peccato che non viviamo piu' vicine.

Next time I will bring some drammamine.

Mia cugina Anna e suo marito ci hanno fatto fare un giro in barca, e' stato molto bello, nonostante abbia vomitato 3 volte.  La prossima volta mi dovo portare la medicina per il mal di mare.

Italia turned 18 the week after we left so Anna, Roberto,my uncle and aunt surprised her with cake and presents.

Italia fa 18 anni la settimana dopo la nostra partenza e i miei cugini Anna, Roberto ed i miei zii l'hanno sorpresa con un dolce e regali.

Roberto took Italia on an outing the morning of our departure to a beautiful town on the Amalfitan coast called Ravello.

Roberto ha portato Italia a fare un giro a Ravello la mattina del giorno della partenza.

I love these people ...it's always hard to say goodbye!

Graduation - Diploma

Italia has graduated!  I can't believe it, time really does fly!  It is true what our parents say, I can't believe that it's been 18 years!  Italia has been a good student and is also a very good girl.  She will go on and do great things.

Italia si e' diplomata. Il tempo vola davvero....come hanno sempre detto i miei genitori.  Italia e' sempre stata una bravissima studente, non mi sono mai dovuta preoccupare di lei.  Nel futuro fara' cose belle, qualsiasi cosa voglia fare.

Emma

No year book? No problem! I got my whole body that can serve as one.  I guess that was Emma's philosophy this year, year books are $50 at the high-school and I only bought one for both Emma and Italia.  Hey maybe this can become the new tradition and it will save me $50 bucks...or not.

Le scuole qui hanno tutti un album di foto degli studenti che vendono tutti gli anni. Alle scuole superiori costa $50 dollari ad album, io avendo sia Emma che Italia ne ho comprato solo uno ed ovviamente lo ha tenuto la maggior parte del tempo Italia, quindi Emma ha deciso di usare se stessa, nel vero senso della parola, come album.  Mi sono dimenticata di dire che in questi album i ragazzi ci scrivono messaggi dentro.

Accent wall - Parete diversa

With everyone coming for the graduation we had to finish the floor in the dining room and Ismar insisted on an accent wall. This was my quickest option to an accent wall.  I really like how this turned out and let me tell you that the rock star in this project was the frog tape.

Ismar voleva una parete diversa dentro la sala pranzo, dato che abbiamo finito i pavimenti di volata e dovevamo rimettere il tavolo dentro abbiamo deciso di fare delle strisce biance al muro per fare qualcosa di veloce,  ma carino, anche perche' il giorno dopo sarebbe arrivata la suocera.  Questo progetto e' stato veloce, c'e' voluto piu' a mettere lo scotch che a rimbiancare.
