October Break

A Ottobre i bambini hanno avuto due settimane di vacanze.  Questo video ha tutte le foto delle nostre avventure.

 La data del nostro matrimonio e' la stessa data di quando siamo partiti per l'Italia.  Questa dato l'ho scelta io per aver un buon ricordo di questa data invece di uno triste.  Ismar e' la cosa piu' bella che mi e' successa da quando mi sono trasferita negli Stati Uniti.  Quattordici anni e 4 figli dopo siamo ancora qui insieme.   E' stata una bella serata.

Our wedding day is the same day I moved to the States 17 years ago.  I wanted that date to replace a sad memory with a good one.  Ismar is the best thing that happened to me since I moved here.  Fourteen years and 4 kids later we are still together.  I love this man. 

Stefano is 7

For Stefano's birthday we opened presents in the morning and then I brought cupcakes, stickers and 7 balloons for him in his classroom.   He's favorite present was the Mario pijama.

Per il compleanno di Stefano abbiamo aperto i regali di mattina prima di andare a scuola.  Poi sono andata a scuola a portare dei dolcetti da condividere con i suoi amici e 7 palloncini.   Il suo regalo preferito, il pigiama di Mario.

Gonne - Skirts

Quando ero piccola la nonna Fiorenza ha sempre voluto insegnarmi a cucine, ma io le ho sempre detto che avrei imparato quando diventavo piu' grande.  Poi ci siamo trasferiti qui ed ho dovuto imparare da sola.  Le ho sempre promesso che avrei imparato ed anche se non sono bravissima sto' cercando di imparare e mantenere la mia promessa.

Quest'estate ho deciso di avventurarmi e fare delle gonne, questa e' la prima che ho fatto e poi le altre seguenti.

 My grandmother Fiorenza loved to sew!  She always wanted me to learn but I told her that I would when I was older.  After moving her and getting older I am trying to keep my promise to her that I would learn.  I enjoy doing it even if at times I need someone with the knowledge to guide me.

This Summer I have decided to try making some skirts! This is the 1st one I made without a pattern.

Dirty Dressers - Progetto Comodini

 Un mio amico su Facebook stava dando via questi comodini gratis ed io non potevo farne a meno e li ho presi.  Dopo carta vetrata e pennello li ho riportati in vita e messi in camera dei bambini.  Ismar non ha ancora finito i letti dei bambini, deve costruire i cassetti quindi per il momento usiamo questi.

So a friend of mine was getting rid of these on Facebook for free.  They look pretty trashy but to me they looked like they had potential.  So I rescued them and gave them some TLC.  My boys don't have dressers yet so I decided to give it to them until Ismar has time to finish the drawer for under their beds!  I stained the knobs to match the boys beds.  I am really happy with this project!

Notice the missing drawers.  Notate il buco per i cassetti che non sono stati ancora costruiti? 

Luca is 4!

Watched Paranorman with some cousins in the morning.  Terrible, terrible movie, at least Luca liked it.
Per il suo compleanno Luca e' voluto andare a vedere un cartone al cinema che si chiama Paranorman.  Un cartone pessimo, ma a lui e' piaciuto.  Sono venuti anche alcuni dei suoi cugini.

Dopo i regali siamo stati a cena fuori e un paio di giorni dopo ha soffiato le sue 4 candeline.
Il prossimo anno va in primina e io rimarro' a casa da sola, quindi sto' cercando di sfruttare il tempo con questo porcellino il piu' possibile.

Hair cut

 Mi sono ritagliata i capelli ed ho deciso di farli ricrescere. 

Got a hair trim,  I am going to let it grow again.  It will probably take me 2 years...

Primo giorno di scuola FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

Quest'anno Emma e' in quinta e Stefano in prima elementare.  Ismar e' il maestro di Emma.

Stefano is in 1st and Emma is in 5th grade.  Ismar is Emma's teacher.

 

Niente femmine! Solo maschi!

Quando faccio le feste per le bambine i maschietti vanno al cinema con Ismar. In macchina ha detto Ismar che urlavano "Niente femmine! Solo maschi!"
