Day 4 - Giorno 4

Wednesday was a very cold day outside.  I decided to stay home and not go anywhere since Linda was not feeling well I thought I could rest and spend some time with her.  Today we watched a movie together, then made doggy treats, had lunch and played several games,  I enjoyed this time because I don't get to experience this with my niece.  It was worth it.  I am glad she stayed home.  Before dinner, after Paola got home Daniele asked if I wanted to go anywhere, so I told him let's go visit the dead.  We went to visit the grandparents and uncles then I went to the viewing of Gabriele.  I am glad I went to see him.  This is the reason why I don't have many pictures today.  After dinner Simone took me out to Pistoia to go get some gelato.  I love Simone, he always makes time for me when I came in town.  This opportunity gave me the chance to catch up with him.

Mercoledi' era freddo fuori, quindi dato che Linda non stava molto bene ho deciso di rimanere a casa per riposarmi e stare anche con lei.  Durante il giorno abbiamo visto un film, fatto dei biscotti per il cane, pranzato e giocato a diversi giochi..  Queste sono cose che purtroppo io non vivo, ma ho avuto l'opportunita' di stare con lei oggi. Ne e' valsa la pena.  Appena e' tornata Paola a casa, Daniele mi ha chiesto se volevo andare in qualche posto, gli ho chiesto di andare a visitare i nonni e gli zii al cimitero.  Mentre eravamo a Prato ci siamo fermati anche a trovare il mio caro amico Gabriele alla Misericordia.  Che triste, ho voluto tanto vederlo, ma non cosi'.  E' per questo che per oggi non ci sono molte foto.  Dopo cena Simone mi ha portato a mangiare in gelato a Pistoia.  Voglio bene a Simone perche' tutte le volte che vengo cerca sempre di passare un po' di tempo con me, il che mi fa tanto piacere, infatti andando a prenderci un gelato mi ha dato l'opportunita' di saper un po' di cosa e' successo nella sua vita in questi ultimi 6 anni.

Day 3 - Giorno 3

Tuesday April 26th, I saw Linda ready to go to school.  I remember wearing that type of uniform when I was little.  Stefania came and picked me up around 9 to have a day full of shopping, unfortunatly her car battery died close to her house and we were stranded for a while.  We had lunch at her parents while the battery was getting replace and then we went to the Gigli (the mall) to get some serious shopping done.  Has soon as we got there we heard (from Martina) that a friend of ours was no longer with us.  This made me so sad because I was hoping to see him, I didn't know he was sick. We went on with our shopping and then went to her house to have dinner with old friends from school, Letizia e Martina. Since it was Letizia's birthday we celebrated hers and mine the same night. It was good to spend time like old times.  

Martedi' mattina, ho visto Linda pronta per andare a scuola e mi e' venuto in mente quando ero piccolina io che mi mettevo il grembiule, una cosa che non usa negli Stati Uniti.

Stefania e' venuta a prendermi verso le 9 per portarmi ai Gigli, purtroppo gli si e' fermata la macchina vicino casa di Daniele.  Mentre la batteria veniva ricambiata ci siamo fermati a casa dei suoi a pranzo. Bello vedere i suoi e vedere casa loro dove io ho tanti ricordi.  Arrivati ai Gigli ha telefonato Martina per comunicarci che Gabriele non era piu' con noi.  Non sapevo fosse malato, sono rimasta malissimo.  Che tristezza, volevo tanto vederlo.  Dopo i Gigli siamo andati a casa di Stefania ed abbiamo cenato con Letizia e Martina (amiche della scuola media), e dato che era il compleanno della Lety abbiamo festeggiato sia il suo che il mio compleanno.  E' stata una bella serata come ai vecchi tempi.

Day 2 - Giorno 2

Of course I was too excited to sleep in, so I woke up after 5 and could not fall asleep.  It's my 37th birthday and I am in Italy.  I haven't had a birthday here since I left 20 years a go.  I woke up to go down with Daniele to feed the animals, last time he only had one piece of land, now that he bought the house next door he has also a vineyard that came with the house. He has chickens, goats and Toffee the donkey.  When we went back to the house I found Paola baking a cake and Linda making me a birthday card, so nice of them.  After breakfast we went down town Quarrata, I was lucky enough to hear my national anthem being played by the band.  So beautiful to hear.  We then spent the day in Florence going to a botanical market, Fiesole where I had a famous florentine steak, the Iris garden, and then home for dinner and cake, which was really good by the way.

Mi sono svegliata alle 5 del mattino dall'emozione, senza poter riaddormentarmi, ma chi se ne frega dormiro' quando torno negli stati uniti.  Oggi e' il mio 37esimo compleanno e sono  in  Italia, e' da piu' di 20 anni che non mi faccio un compleanno in Italia.  Appena sveglia sono andata giu' alla terra di Daniele a conoscere le sue bestie.  Ha un asinello, due caprette ed delle galline, che purtroppo nel periodo che ho passato io ne sono morte 2.  Avendo espanso casa ha un altro pezzo di terra con una vigna che non aveva prima.  Entrati in casa abbiamo trovato Paola che faceva un dolce e Linda che faceva un bigliettino per me.  Troppo gentili.  Dopo colazione siamo andati a fare un giro nel centro di Quarrata.  Per l'appunto c'era una banda che ha suonato l'inno nazionale, che emozione sentirlo per il mio compleanno.  Il resto del giorno lo abbiamo passato a Firenze ad una esibizione botanica, stupenda, poi abbiamo pranzato a Fiesole, io di bistecca fiorentina, poi il giardino degli iris vicino piazzale Michelangelo. Tornati a casa per cena abbiamo cenato ed ho spento 37 candeline.  Il dolce che ha fatto Paola era molto buono.

Day 1 - Giorno 1

I arrived in Rome late morning, hopped on the train and headed to Florence.  My friend Stefania came to see me at the train station.  Too bad I didn't take a picture, it was nice to see her and hug her.  Daniele could not find parking so I met him by the bus stop.  I was so happy my phone from here worked so I could let him know where I was.  We drove home to Quarrata where Paola had made lunch.  It is nice to see my brother and his family, it's been too long.  Quarrata is a beautiful place.  Later on we went to say hi to the Ionna family next door.  They gather every Sunday to eat together.  I love this family, they are a group of strong members. I went to sleep not believing I was here.

 Arrivata a Roma ho preso il treno per Firenze, alla stazione e' venuta a trovarmi la mia cara Stefania.  Non stava nella pelle e quindi e' venuta a trovarmi alla stazione.  Daniele non riusciva a trovare un posto per parcheggiare quindi mi e' venuto a prendere alla fermata dell'autobus, mentre io intanto chiacchieravo con la Stefy.  Arrivati a casa Paola aveva preparato un buon pranzetto.  Che emozione vedere Daniele, Paola e Linda.  Nel pomeriggio siamo andati dai vicini, la famiglia Ionna, si riuniscono tutte le domeniche per mangiare insieme.  Questa familgia rappresenta i membri forti della chiesa in Italia.  Mi sembra tutto un sogno.

Italia 2016

Ismar wanted to buy me a ticket for me to go to Italy for Christmas but decided to ask me when I wanted to go.  I told him as soon as it gets warm and he was done traveling.  So we scheduled my trip for me to leave on Saturday, April 23rd from Salt Lake City. It's been 6 years since my last visit.  I was so excited to go but sad to leave my kids, but I know Ismar is very good with them and can do everything I do with them.  I love them but I also love and miss my family that I don't get to see very often. I have been feeling very emotional about this whole thing also because I will be celebrating my birthday away from them and mother's day.  I am lucky to have Ismar who supports me in everything I do and can pick up any task you give him.

Dopo Natale, Ismar mi ha detto che mi voleva mandare in Italia, dato che sono passati quasi 6 anni.  Mi voleva fare una sorpresa ma poi ha deciso di chiedermi quando preferivo andare, quindi gli ho detto appena si fa bello il tempo e appena avrebbe finito di viaggiare lui.  Abbiamo fatto il biglietto per sabato 23 aprile partenza da Salt Lake City.  Sono contenta di andare, ma triste di dover lasciare i miei piccolini.  Per fortuna Ismar sa fare tutto anche senza di me. Durante il mio viaggio compiero' gli anni senza i miei piccoli ed Ismar e saro' in viaggio per la festa della mamma.  Sto' provando tante emozioni, gioia e tristezza allo stesso tempo.  Mi mancheranno, ma sono molto emozionata di vedere tutti i miei cari.

Conference weekend

This year for conference weekend since Ismar was still traveling we decided to start a new tradition.  Have a nice brunch that we can snack on during conference.  We were sad to have him gone so we thought of treating ourselves to good food.  The kids loved it.

Dato che Ismar era ancora in Ecuador per il weekend della conferenza, ho deciso di cominciare una nuova tradizione, di preparare una bella colazione che mangiamo mentre guardiamo la conferenza.  La mancanza di Ismar si sente molto e per questo abbiamo deciso di fare qualcosa di diverso, ed ora diventera' una tradizione di famiglia....o per lo meno lo spero.

Easter -Pasqua

Easter weekend was weird this year...I kind of forgot about it and I made the pastiere kind of the day before and then the next day.  It was a cold Sunday but at least there was no snow.  Ismar just got back from his trip so we were glad to have him.  Not very well planned this year but I was happy to have made the pastiere.  The only thing I am glad is that I didn't forget to by the eggs for the kids. The eggs were colored a week later but they got to do it.

Pasqua quest'anno non l'ho organizzata molto bene.  Le pastiere le ho fatte a pelo, mi sono ricordata di sabato e per fortuna ho finito di farle la domenica.  Ismar per fortuna era tornato a casa dal suo viaggio in Ecuador e quindi siamo stati insieme pero' devo dire che quest'anno avrei voluto far qualcosa di diverso per mangiare. L'importante e' che non mi sia dimenticata le uova per i bambini.

Gabriele

Gabriele, came to Idaho Falls for a dance competition with ALA, the school Ismar taught in Arizona.  It was nice to see him and a lot of Ismar's students.  We drove up to IF with the intention of spending sometime with him and taking him to dinner with us....well the dance teacher didn't want us to take him anywhere and didn't want us to even go to the same restaurant they were going to be at (the Golden Corral).  She would not show her face and didn't have the courage to come speak to us.  My kids were heart broken that they could have dinner with his cousin.  All I can say is that karma will get her somehow. (Evil laugh) I will stop writing now because I want to say so much more but it would not be appropriate for the audience.

Gabriele e' venuto con la sua scuola ad Idaho Falls per una gara di ballo, con la scuola dove insegnava Ismar prima che ci siamo trasferiti in Idaho.  Abbiamo rivisto anche dei vecchi studenti di Ismar. Noi tutti contenti abbiamo fatto mezz'ora di macchina per andare a trovarlo con l'intenzione di portarlo fuori a cena, fino a che abbiamo saputo che la maestra di ballo non solo non voleva che lo portassimo fuori, ma non ha nemmeno voluto che noi andassimo allo stesso ristorante dove sarebbe andata la squadra di ballo.  Lei non si e' fatta vedere e non e' venuta neanche a parlarci faccia a faccia.  Sia noi che i bambini eravamo tristi di non aver potuto cenare con Gabri e stare un po' con lui.  Spero tanto che a questa maestra sia ripagata con la stessa moneta.  Vorrei scrivere molto di piu' ma e' meglio che mi fermi qui.

Un pomeriggio passato con i 3 piu' piccoli a giocare a bowling a BYUI, le piu' grandi vogliono sempre fare altre cose per conto loro.  Ismar stava viaggiando

All I can say about this year's car is FAST, FAST, FAST.  In fact I did not expect it to be that fast.  Stefano lately love the UP movie and especially the music, so he wanted an UP car and he got it, and won 1st place, second year in a row.

Stefano fa parte dei cub scouts che sono i piccolini boy scouts, tutti gli anni i bambini con i padri devono costruire una macchina da corsa da un blocco di legno.  Stefano con l'aiuto di Ismar ha voluto una macchina che rappresentasse il film Disney UP (quello con la famosa casa volante portata via dai palloncini).  Questa macchina era vergognosamente VELOCE, infatti e' arrivato primo!  Questo e' il secondo anno che arriva primo.
