 Sofia wanted to do to Sea Quest and do a fish foot spa.  That lasted 5 minutes and then I was able to enjoy the other 10 minutes left on the clock.

 Per il suo compleanno Sofia e' voluta andare a Sea Quest dove hanno un pedicure con pesci.  Lei e' durata 5 minuti ed io ho approfittato degli altri 10 minuti rimasti.

OK, let me explain what happened to this cake... Sofia wanted everything pink, so I made a strawberry mouse for the filling.  I put it in the fridge and  when I took it out it was this way.  I showed Sofia thinking she would be upset and her response was "It's beautiful!"  I am glad she thought so.

 Vi spiego cosa e' successo al dolce.  Sofia voleva un dolce tutto rosa, quindi ho pensato di fare il ripieno di mouse alle fragole.  L'ho messo nel frigo a raffreddare e quando l'ho tirato fuori era cosi.  Appena lo ha visto Sofia ha detto "E' bellissimo!"  Per fortuna, pensavo di averle rovinato il dolce.

Geppetto and me - Living room

The plan for this room is to remove the carpet, the window treatments, and the chair rail, paint, lay tile, replace the vents covers.

This was a big job, not so much for the tiling but to get the floor ready to lay the tile.  It's like having 2 floors, the sub-floor and the tile.  This flooring is not going anywhere, which is part of the reason why we picked the wood looking tile.

The finishing touches will be a mirror or some wall art

Decorating this room...this is a really small room.  My style of decor is simple and clean, I don't like to many trinkets that will then need to be dusted.  I like a few meaningful pieces.
At first I thought about doing a big mirror above the sofa to open up the space, but then I thought about doing silhouettes of my children so I decided to go with that idea.

Here are the silhouettes.....I haven't decided on how to arrange them yet, but I am pretty pleased with how they turned out.

 I am pretty happy with the silhouette wall and the little mirror between the curtains.  The family sign has been blacked out for privacy, our last name is one of a kind.  I plan on making some colorful pillow covers to add more color to the room .  After that, I think this is as far as I will go with the decor or this room.

Geppetto and me - Our Nauvoo

Here we are...  August 8th we moved into our "new" home in Utah.  As we spent the first week in the house we realized that it would need a lot more work than we thought.  Here is a general list of we have in mind: complete remodel of kitchen and bathrooms, re-floor the whole house with tile and laminate, paint every room, change lighting everywhere, create a separation wall for the master bath and for the girls room.
As the weeks go by and we are trying to get the kids ready for school while adjusting to a new lifestyle, we have moments were we feel overwhelmed, both Geppetto and me, and we haven't even started on the remodel....
One Sunday we were asked to substitute in my son's 11 year old Sunday school.  The lesson was about the early saints and them being told to go to Nauvoo.  (Nauvoo was settled by the mormons circa 1840) .  Nauvoo was not a pretty place when the saints got there.  They worked hard and they made Nauvoo beautiful.  The lesson was about the faith of the saints in building the Kingdom of God, and about sacrifice and hard work.  After the lesson Geppetto said that this house is going to be our Nauvoo.  The pioneers would always make the place where they lived better, same with us.
We feel this house to be our modern day Nauvoo, it's time to get to work.
The plan is to remodel until we are done, non stop. We are not going to take it slow because we want to make sure we are able to enjoy this house, just in case we get "kicked out" of our Nauvoo, like it happened in Rexburg.

Phase 1   Main floor living rooms and kitchen.
Phase 2   Bedrooms and the basement living area.
Phase 3   Bathrooms.
